A RM2 BILLION LOBSTER FARM IN SABAH

DURING the third day of State Assembly question and answer session, the State Assemblyman for Kunak, Nilwan Kabang asked the Chief Minister on the progress of the proposed lobster farming project in Pulau Timbun Mata in Kunak District, a joint undertaking between Inno Fisheries, a subsidiary company of Yayasan Sabah, and Aquafarm Inc from America.

According to project sources the proposed joint venture involves an investment of RM 2 billion and is expected to generate 20,000 jobs. In reply the Chief Minister confirmed that the project will be carried out on a 9,300 hectare coastal area in Pulau Timbun Mata, Semporna. 

He said the State Cabinet approved the land for the project in March 2012. He said the lobster farm would require some 6000 hectares to accommodate the 18000 or so lobster cages plus additional area for related onshore and offshore facilities.

Warga emas sokong bantahan belia terhadap cubaan urusniaga batu dan pasir Sungai Wariu

KOTA BELUD: Seorang warga emas di sekitar Kampung Nahaba, dekat sini menyokong penuh bantahan para belia terhadap cubaan sebuah syarikat untuk mengurusniagakan batu dan pasir di sepanjang Sungai Wariu.

Bantahan tersebut pernah dibuat oleh para belia di situ dalam kenyataan yang dikeluarkan mereka melalui sebuah akhbar tempatan pada penghujung September lalu.

Warga emas itu, Wilton Labuan, merupakan penduduk asal di Kampung Nahaba berpendapat keindahan sungai tersebut wajar dikekalkan dan menyatakan kebimbangan jika aktiviti urusniaga batu dan pasir tanpa kebenaran itu dibiarkan, tentunya mengundang pelbagai masalah termasuk hakisan tebing sungai, menjejaskan keindahan dan menyebabkan habitat ikan turut musnah.

PM: RM13bil FDI shows investor confidence in Malaysia.

KERTEH: The RM13bil in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first quarter of this year is a clear signal of investors' confidence in Malaysia as an investment destination despite a gloomy global economy and the Opposition's criticims, says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The Prime Minister said foreign investors did not base their decisions on what the Opposition said.

"They choose Malaysia based on facts and in-depth assessments.

"Their selection of Malaysia is a vote of confidence on how we manage our economy.”

"We expect to hit our targeted FDI and private sector investments this year," he told journalists after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the world's first integrated bio-methionine and thiochemicals plant in Kertih BioPolymer Park here on Saturday.

KOTA BELUD: Usaha pihak tertentu yang cuba untuk mendapatkan surat kuasa kebenaran mengambil batu (TOL) di Sungai Wariu, di sini mendapat bantahan sebuah badan bukan kerajaan (NGO) di kawasan itu.

Persatuan Belia dan Beliawanis Kampung Nahaba yang telah pun berdaftar dengan Pejabat Pendaftar Pertubuhan (ROS), kecewa dengan niat buruk pihak tertentu yang suka mementingkan keuntungan sendiri dengan usaha membuat permohonan TOL itu.
