Race relations never an issue in Sabah and Sarawak

..........."This is because there has been racial tolerance among the people for a very long time.

"Other than the Malays, Chinese and Indians, Sarawak has 33 ethnic groups, and we have been living peacefully together even before independence. I think there is no point in having such a law and we don't need it," said Awang Tengah on Friday, matter-of-factl

SABAHKITA SAID:
I am staying in the middle of the Chinese community in Kota Kinabalu City. The first cousins of my children are consisting of:-

a. Kadazandusun
b. Chinese
c. Indian
d. Iranun
e. Brunei and
f. Bajau

My daughter speaks and writes better Chinese than many Chinese in Malaysia. My two sons are Americans.

I was brought up in a small district, synonymous to "The Cowboy Town of The East", Kota Belud. The multiracial community assimilation in this particular Cowboy Town has really reached its maturity level. It should be considered the right, if not the perfect "model of unity" in Malaysia. In spite of its very vogue name, most people in this town speak multilingual. One should not be suprised when encountering and hearing "The Chinese people, among them, arguing in local dialict better than their's".

The words "pagari", 'denakan", "tampinai", "langu' ", "bayau" and "sifu" are very much alive ever in this very unique Cowboy Town. No place for rules of the guns here. The town is very famous with "parang" NOT as a weapon but a decoration or a momento instead. The town is also famous with "kain dastar", a tradisional woven cloth by Iranun people. Dastar has been a shared tradition among indigenous people in Sabah for hundreds years.

Maybe, the proposed "law of racial tolerence" for the community of this Cowboy Town mere preceived as composition since the said law need to actually learn from them in the real sense.

I totally agree with you.

It is true that race was never an issue in Sabah and Sarawak. That makes us unique because we can mix around with other races. Most of my friends are Kadazan, Chinese, Bajau and Brunei or any other races. I got no problem with them and we always drink coffee or tea at one table. :)

Race was never an issues for East Malaysians. We can still gather and sit in one table in a Chinese coffee shop. It doesn't matter if you are Chinese, Indian, Bajau, Kadazan, Melayu-Brunei. We are a unique and special state where it's people have high tolerance with other different races, ethnicity and religions.

While I’m studying at Sarawak I noticed that my Muslims freind are willing to sit in a restaurant which they knew sell pork . We are not ‘geli’ to share the same table though I eat kolo mee with char siew while they happily eating their nasi ayam. For me, as long as I don’t mix my food with them and they don’t touch what I eat we can enjoy our meal together :)
Ooo Thanks God I’m proud to be Sabahan and I love my sarawakians friends.
